This annual viewing of the Perseid Meteor Shower, near the North entrance to Hells Canyon, is sponsored by The Natural Sciences & Mathematics Division at Lewis-Clark State College and the Nez Perce National Historical Park. The visitor’s center will open at 8.m. for viewing and a short slide show will follow at 8:30pm with a discussion of meteors and cultural interpretation of the stars. At approximately 9pm, when it is dark outside, there will be viewing of the meteor shower from the visitor’s center and the parking lot area. Anyone attending is asked to bring reclining chairs and blankets to use.
